Andrew Shields, PhD, poet, language skills and culture lecturer, University of Basel
This course will treat the arts of writing poetry and writing song lyrics as one art; we will explore ways to generate material (what to write about?) and ways to shape the material that you generate (how to write about it?).
«Speaking, chatting, discussing with other people is probably the best way to learn a language: We often want to explain what we think about a certain topic and to get to know how others see the world. If you can express yourself, use the words you know, and respond to others, the social situation can bring out your best! Richard Cooper is up for the task to get everyone speaking and build a good group atmosphere. He will also provide short texts from English news sources so that you can develop vocabulary and expressions and prepare for the sessions in advance. So let’s start talking!»
